For 40 years, Women in Cable Telecommunications (WICT) has helped develop women leaders in an industry undergoing constant change. We’ve resolved to advance the position and influence of women through the spirit of collaboration within our organization and throughout the industry.

The WICT Washington DC/Baltimore Chapter provides leadership programs and services including seminars, networking events and mentor programs to the men and women who are shaping the future in the DC/Baltimore metropolitan area.

SEPTEMBER 7

ESPN launches and becomes the first 24-hour cable TV channel.

The Movie Channel, begins broadcasting movies 24/7,

Annual advertising revenues exceeds 10 million.

Cable subscriptions

14.8 million US households subscribe to cable. (Currently 120M)
